“Hidden in the glorious wildness like unmined gold.”
(John Muir – Scottish-born American naturalist and author, 1838–1914)

At sunrise, this young man was doing yoga in the holy waters of the Ganges at Scindia ghat in Varanasi (Benaras).
He was floating as quiet and still as possible in order to find a deep relaxation.

“Whatever path men travel is My path: No matter where they walk, it leads to Me.”
(From the Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 4 ‘Hindu Scripture’)

This picture was shot early in the morning when the first lights of sunrise reflected in the holy waters of the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras).
People enjoyed the freshness of dawn and bathing in this river made of silver and gold as if it was the antechamber of Heaven…

“There’s beauty in the silver singing river,
There’s beauty in the sunrise in the sky,
But none of these and nothing else can match the beauty,
That I remember in my true love’s eyes”
(Bob Dylan – American folksinger, b.1941)

This child was bathing in the holy waters at sunrise when the Ganges sings a lullaby and kisses with silver drops…

“As the night is falling on
The distant sky carries echos of our past
The curtain of the night falls upon the holy waters and takes burning shades of satin
Poetry is our never ending journey
And wants to keep our memory awake
Let it fill our lucky souls
Away from the dreams of another tomorrow
But in thoughts of never letting our hearts
Be devoured by another starry night on the Silk Road
Alors que la nuit tombe…”

This picture was shot from Darabhanga ghat along the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras) at sunset when whispers, tears and memories become eternity…

“Forever is composed of nows.
‘Tis not a different time
Except for Infiniteness
And Latitude of Home

From this – experienced Here
Remove the Dates – to These
Let Months dissolve in further Months
And Years – exhale in Years

Without Debate – or Pause
Or Celebrated Days
No different Our Years would be
From Anno Dominies”
(Emily Dickinson – American Poet, 1830-1886)

This is a glimpse of eternity captured one morning at Scindia ghat along the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras)…

“To the illumined man or woman, a clod of dirt, a stone, and gold are the same.”
(Bhagavad Gita)

This lady was bathing at sunrise in the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras).
It was at this special hour when the holy waters become liquid gold, when time then gets frozen and for a moment offers glimpses of the “hereafter”.
Anyone who touches the River of Heaven is said to be cleansed of all sins.

“To him whose elastic and vigorous thought keeps pace with the sun, the day is a perpetual morning”.
(Ralph Waldo Emerson – American Poet, Lecturer and Essayist, 1803-1882)

This picture belongs to a series shot along the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras) at sunrise when the holy waters become liquid gold.
It is the moment when human souls are lost between dreams and reality and when it is sometimes possible to feel a glimpse of the “hereafter”.
Those magic periods of time only happen at dawn in the Eternal city also called the navel of the world.
This man came to do his laundry like he always do when the freshness of the night is still around, knowing that soon the heat of the sun will dry his clothes fast and will allow him to go to work.
It’s a matter of timing which comes back every morning, perpetually…

“Do not say that the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran are false.
Those who do not contemplate them are false.”
(The Sri Guru Granth Sahib, page 1350, The holy book of the Sikhs)

According to the Sikh Gurus there are “many paths” leading to the one God and ultimate salvation for all souls who treading on the path of righteousness.
This was shot at sunrise along the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras) at the time when the holy waters become liquid gold, the moment when dreams are melting with reality, the moment with visions of what we humans are not supposed to see…
This young man wanted to enjoy the freshness of the night which was still there for a few more minutes, he was going to his washing board and soon he would start washing laundry.
