“…Well I’ve no daughters, I’ve no sons
Guess I’m the only one
Living in my life
Take care my love, he said
Don’t think that God is dead
Take care my love, he said
You have been loved ”
(From “You Have Been Loved” by George Michael)

One more picture of George Michael shot during his extraordinary show Symphonica : The Orchestral Tour.
I am using his words to say that he “brushed my eyes with angels wings, the kind that makes devils cry’…

“I feel so extraordinary
Something’s got a hold on me
I’ve got this feeling I’m in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don’t care ‘cos I’m not there
And I don’t care if I’m here tomorrow
Again and again I’ve taken too much
Of the thing that costs you too much…”
(“True Faith” by George Michael)

This is a picture of George Michael shot during his extraordinary show (Symphonica : The Orchestral Tour).
The picture is blur but this was the best I could do as I was spellbindingly behaving like a fan and forgetting my camera for a while…
Last night he could have claimed to be “The Voice” as he was reminding the presence of another eternal icon.

“For you I was a flame
Love is a losing game
Five story fire as you came
Love is a losing game”
(Fom “Love is a losing game” by Amy Winehouse)

This picture was shot a few minutes ago while Gorge Michael was paying a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse by singing her hit, “Love Is A Losing Game”.
George Michael is back with a brilliant and classy show (Symphonica : The Orchestral Tour).
His voice was never as good as tonight…

Art for Prabhat

Just a few more words about “ART for PRABHAT ” and a reminder for the opening which will be tomorrow evening in Delhi where everyone will be welcome.

Invitation

ART for PRABHAT

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever”

And this is truer when the journey that led to the creation is explored.

“Art for Prabhat” is one such journey for which the Art for Prabhat Shows are landmarks. The sparks of a dynamic synergy between the retarded and the genius unfold as our youngsters (shunned, ridiculed, and isolated by society on account of their intellectual disability) have at times not only created a canvas for the artist (creative, imaginative, loved and revered) to further develop into a thing of beauty but also worked with photographers and artists from time to time.

“Art for Prabhat” is an ongoing attempt to provide opportunities for society to join hands with people with intellectual challenges.

We conduct 3-4 group shows each year. Eminent artists like Jogen Chowdhury, Anjolie Ela Menon, Yusuf Arakkal, Arpana Caur, Neeraj Goswami, GR Iranna and many others have endorsed our ‘Art for Prabhat’ handmade paper and helped make this attempt to mainstream the work of these youngsters possible.

ABOUT SOCIETY FOR CHILD DEVELOPMENT

Driven by the conviction that there is a way to create a world of equal opportunities for people with disabilities, the Society for Child Development (SFCD) was founded as a non-profit organization in 1992 to establish programs and initiatives for its actualization.

In the beginning – Prabhat – a school for children with learning difficulties was launched in Shakti Nagar.

Prabhat aims to provide students with an educational and training facility that will assist them in acquiring basic living and academic skills.

At the age of 18, students transfer to the Vocational Training Center to learn market-driven skills and crafts.

Regularity, precision, innovation and creativity are the keywords at the center.

Encouraged by the enthusiastic responses an Online Legal Aid Cell was added which provides pro-bono counsel to the disabled and their families SFCD conducts research and develops accessible reports and publications for wide dissemination.

The World Bank, National Commission for Women, and Handicap International have been among SFCD sponsors.

To expand the scope and extend our reach further, in 2004, a Parent Support Network was setup to provide a forum for parents to benefit from each others’ experience and to bring home the truth that “a well informed parent makes a better parent.”

Because of this expansion, SFCD now includes a variety of programs and initiatives to promote the rights of persons with disabilities from several angles.

Beyond the immediate grasp of our projects, we hope that SFCD has touched the lives of many more, from the generous individuals who attend the Art for Prabhat exhibits, to those who use our non-toxic Holi colors, to those who enjoy seeing a cleaner Yamuna.

We hope that this expansion will enable us to move closer towards our goal of a more equal future for persons with disabilities.
