“If you want something from an audience, you give blood to their fantasies.
It’s the ultimate hustle.”
(Marlon Brando – American actor, 1924-2004)

This is a portrait of Bollywood actor, anchor and dancer, Hussain Kuwajerwala shot in his green room after a performance on stage.

Hussain is a popular TV star who is acting the leading role of the first-ever Bollywood musical, “Zangoora, The Gypsy Prince” at Kingdom of Dreams since 2010.

Recently we have been working together and it was amazing to see how much Hussain is giving to the audience.
His performance requires an incredible physical effort and concentration which he carries with a high professionalism.
In many ways his work reminds of Marlon Brando’s early movies.

“It is said that no star is a heroine to her makeup artist.”
(Richard Corliss – American writer for Time magazine, b.1944)

My friend Carmen Arbues Miro is the amazing make-up artist of “1789 : Les Amants de la Bastille”.
Her stage makeup work is well-known worldwide, she is in charge of superproductions in Las Vegas, Macao and Paris and many movie stars won’t allow any camera to shoot before she spends a moment with them…
I always loved to work with Carmen, her magic fingers can do anything.
She always brought a positive energy during the fashion shows and fashion shoots we used to do…

“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”
( Dorothea Lange – American documentary photographer, 1895-1965)

This was shot backstage at Kingdom of Dreams a few minutes before a performance of “Zangoora, the Gypsy Prince”.
The dancers and aerialists were ajusting their hair style and finishing their make-up.
Lynn Mascarenhas who stands on the right is also acting in the movie we were making, she is an amazing artist, she is also a physiotherapist during daytime and manages to combine those two jobs in a brilliant way.

“When you find yourself beginning to feel a bond between yourself and the people you photograph, when you laugh and cry with their laughter and tears, you will know you are on the right track.”
(Weegee (Arthur Fellig) – American photographer,1899–1968)

This is a portrait of Kapil Dhaundiyal who is a dancer at Kingdom of Dreams.
I took this picture as he was going on stage in order to perform in “Zangoora, the Gypsy Prince”.
During the film shoot we used to leave all our gear on his make-up table and I have to admit that we were invading his space but he never complained about it.
On the contrary he was always smiling with a contagious happiness.
He is a great entertainer who is taking the stage with an amazing energy.
This young man is an inspiration and he doesn’t know that he gives a lesson of life to anyone who crosses his path…
