“Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability, it is essential for human survival.”
(Dalai Lama – Head of the Dge-lugs-pa order of Tibetan Buddhists, 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, b.1935)

The Way to Happiness

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.
If you want to be happy, practice compassion”.
(The Dalai Lama)

“To love oneself is to love life.
It is essential to understand that we make ourselves happy in making others happy”.
(Matthieu Ricard, Happiness / A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skill)

This lady is a Buddhist nun, I met her as she was leaving an important ceremony in a Dharamsala in Leh, the capital of Ladakh.
She was among many other women and there was some much of happiness coming out from her expressions.
There is so much to learn from looking at people, words are not always necessarily.
