“May Heaven keep the grandeur of Benaras
Arbour of this meadow of joy;
For oft returning souls–their journey’s end.
In this weary Temple land of the world,
Safe from the whirlwind of Time,
Benaras is forever Spring.”
(Mirza Ghalib – classical Urdu and Persian poet from India, 1796-1869)

Those pilgrims were walking on the ghats along the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras).
Like many people there they seemed to be emerging from eternity, “safe from the whirlwind of time”.
The words of Ghalib take so much of sense in this place of infinity where it becomes so easy to listen to the timeless beauty of the music of human soul…
