“The oldest living city in the world”.

This temple as I said on many other images is my favorite in Varanasi (Benaras).

Each time I go on the ghats of river Ganga I keep on going there as if this temple had a magnet field which is strongly attracting me.

The legend of this temple says that once a woman asked her son to go to Benaras and have a temple built.
Once it was done he came back to see his mother and told her that as he did it he paid her back all that she did for him.
The mother was furious, saying that a son can’t pay back nine months pregnancy, an education and most of all, a mother’s love.
So she decided to curse this temple and then its structure slowly began to collapse.
Nowadays it’s a kind of Tower of Pisa in Benaras.

The architecture of the roof is amazing, I can’t help dreaming when I see it.

This picture is dedicated to Arantxa (Cottonfields) a Flickr member who has been shooting this temple as well.
We never met but during a few days in several places in Rajasthan and in Uttar Pradesh, one was the shadow of the other….
