“The oldest living city in the world”.

I shot this picture at Scindia ghat in Varanasi (Benaras) during the time at which the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon in the evening.

At this time called “civil dusk”, objects are distinguishable and some stars and planets are visible to the naked eye.

Along the holy waters of the Ganges time then stops, images come and flow from reality to the collective unconscious and collective memories that we all carry in the deepest parts of our souls.

The oldest living city in the world becomes a medium where anyone can share a sense of heritage and commonality with many human beings we have never met and where it is possible to transcend ones existence…
